I have been thinking about this Scripture all day:
"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me.
Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two:
I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body."
For the Christian, there should be no fear of death.
We most certainly should seek to live the life we've been given
and enjoy it to the full.
"'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.' Jesus said."
Even so, we should not fear the end of our lives on earth,
since physical death is not the end but merely
the beginning of our eternal life with Christ
and all those who believe in Him.
This is not something to dread but
something to look forward to with great anticipation.
Eternity with Christ will be glorious!
"'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
For the Christian, life has purpose and
physical death is but the gateway to reward.
