Today in Sunday school we read
a scripture verse that sent my mind whirling.
“The instruction of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy,
making the inexperienced wise.”
Psalm 19:7 (Holman CSB)
It reminded me of other verses that refer to childlike faith.
“At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.’”
“And he said, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.’”
(see also Matthew 21:16, and 1 Corinthians 1:18-25)
And I wondered what it is about the mind of a child that can see and accept the beauty…the grace…the wonder…of God’s love
so readily and without question.
Perhaps it is because as we get more “educated” along our life journey…
we somehow lose sight of the Giver of all good things…
the very Giver of Life.
We become egotistical, focusing our attention on all that WE have accomplished (as individuals and/or as a people)…
forgetting that our every “next breath” is provided by
the One who created us.
Our vision becomes myopic…
focusing on the creation rather than the Creator.
We forget to take a step back so we can see the bigger picture.
God’s love is GREAT!
God’s love is also SIMPLE!
Why is it so hard for us to understand?
