Disobedience dulls our senses…causes us to lose connection with God.
Rationalizing away what we are to do or not to do—becomes willful disobedience.
Think God doesn’t mind so much?
When Saul tried to rationalize his disobedience, God spoke through the prophet Samuel:
“Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”
1 Samuel 15:22-23
Our obedience is key to our relationship with God. The Lord is holy and pure.
He will not work through willfully disobedient people.

~~David (sin cause grievous consequences…begged God not to leave him)
Better understanding of “without me you can do nothing.” We must remain connected!
Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the LORD your God and have no awe of me," declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
The habits I’ve been called to give up are not things that are sinful in and of themselves. They are sinful for me because I know that God has asked me to give them up. To keep ignoring Him on this matter is willful disobedience. :(
God will make us miserable in our sin on purpose! Not because He enjoys punishing us, but because He means to turn us back to His safety, back to His love.
Like a parent who enforces consequences when children disobey, our Heavenly Father seeks to train us to obey Him for our good, not His.
He has promised never to leave us or forsake us (Deut 31:6 & Hebrews 13:5), but that doesn’t mean we will always be happy.
“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive.”
1 Corinthians 10:23
Just because I can doesn’t mean I should…yet the world will tell us exactly opposite.
Added 3 Nov 15, after experiencing restoration with my “Daddy” after finally determining to obey Him completely:
We must be careful to whom we listen.
Only One endured so much to offer us Everlasting Love.
Only One loves us more than we can possibly understand.
Separation from Him, even temporarily, is too high a price to pay for temporary pleasures. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, compares to sweet fellowship with our Creator God. Nothing.
