This morning I was thinking about the effect that bitterness has on our hearts.
Bitterness puts a cover over our light. It gets darker and darker until the light goes out…like putting a snuffer over a candle. If the snuffer is lifted before the flame dies, it gets brighter and illuminates the area around it again. If the flame dies—the “snuffer” (bitterness) must first be removed and only then can the flame be reignited by the source or another flame. Bitterness kills our joy—our light. If your flame is waning…look for the root of bitterness…grab hold of it and get rid of it. Then invite God to reignite the joy & passion you once knew.
When that happens you will be free to let your light shine!
Why is it important to let your light shine? Because Jesus himself tells us to “…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
