We are engaged in a spiritual war.
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
But sometimes, in the day to day struggle of life,
we forget about the war we cannot see with our physical eyes.
We often forget about who our true enemy is.
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8
It’s somewhat easy to dance for joy when life is going smoothly for us.
However, as we dance, we can lose sight of the fact
that the war still rages around us.
We forget to keep our weapons sharp and at the ready.
We forget to DAILY put on the armor that has been provided for our protection.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Then when we least expect it…our enemy shoots
a flaming arrow that sinks deep into our heart.
Our breath is snatched away as our bodies drop to the ground in pain.
We lay there on the battlefield...writhing in pain as
our lifeblood (hope) seeps out.
We can hear the lies of the enemy whispering in our ears.
“Where is your God now? He has abandoned you.”
“You will die here…there is no hope left.”
But those who remember the Lord’s promises will
not believe the lies of the enemy.
They will cry out and their Heavenly Father will hear them.
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
“Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for men.”
Our Faithful Medic finds us on the battlefield and…
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
We are healed for a purpose.
This spiritual war will continue to intensify until the day of Christ’s return.
There are many who are held captive by our enemy. They must be rescued.
Those who know the Truth must share what they know in the hope of
rescuing those who have fallen under the power of the enemy’s lies.
We must be careful not to be taken captive ourselves as
we stand and face the battle.
“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.”
We MUST keep our armor on!
“Therefore put on the full armor of God,
so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,
and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,
with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with
the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
