Experiencing fear is different from being controlled by fear.
There are many frightening things in this world…and fear is a human emotion. In our humanity…the feeling of fear is inevitable.
However, scripture tells us that we do not have
to let fear control us any longer!
“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
Our Father offers us courage and strength to face this life—come what may.
No matter what our circumstances are—God is with us.
When we run to Him with our concerns He offers us a peace that does not depend on our outward circumstances…a peace that calms us even in the midst of the worst storms. A peace that doesn’t even make sense in difficult situations…but it’s like a rock…a firm place to stand.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
I am not denying my reality when I close the door on fear. Instead, I am fully embracing ALL of my reality…and that includes the fact that God is with me, no matter what life situation I’m in. He is Immanuel…“God with us.”
If our God is with us…who can be against us?
