Guard Your Heart

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23

That verse is one that keeps coming back to me.
It’s applicable to so many different situations.
Here are just a few:

Guard your heart.
Do not let your hearts become hardened/calloused.
Hardened hearts cannot receive nor share love.

Guard your heart.
Don’t “fall for” anything or anyone other than the Lord.
The One who created you is the only one who knows you inside out…
knows every strength and every weakness…
and is the only One who paid your ransom from sin and death.
No one else deserves first place in your heart.

Guard your heart.
Do not allow your heart to give anyone else (or take for itself) credit for the good in your life.
Many scripture verses refer to our God as a jealous God.
This jealousy is not selfish jealousy.  Rather—it’s righteous honesty.
He alone deserves the credit for the good things in your life.
