Can our God be any more AWESOME?!
A lot of things have been weighing on my heart and mind lately.
Not hand-wringing worry, but just this feeling of heaviness.
This morning as I was driving home, I saw a flock of sparrows feeding in someone’s front yard. It reminded me of the verses in scripture that speak of sparrows being taken care of by our Creator God.
(Psalm 84:3, Matthew 6:26, Matthew 10:29*)
And then when I got home, I saw a butterfly flitting around the flowerbed along the driveway. This little snapshot of joy has been hanging about here for weeks…and every time I see it, it makes me smile. Today, however, it appeared as if one of its wings was missing a chunk out of it…and yet, it still flew around as happily as it has been all this time.
This, too, seemed like a whisper-breathed message of
hope from my Father God.
A “God-wink” is what I call it.
Even in the midst of all our troubles & deepest fears,
He still takes the time to reach down and offer reminders of His promises that are forever true.
I LOVE that about our God!
It’s one of the reasons I am proud (and thankful) to call Him “Daddy”!
Even when the storms of life weigh us down…
there is hope and security in our Father God.
Even when we are broken…we can still fly.
*thought I’d type these verses out in case you don’t have a Bible handy : )
“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.”
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?”
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.”
And here are some other verses that I found uplifting and encouraging:
“Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.”
“Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles to Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.
He covers the sky with clouds;
he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of a man;
the LORD delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.”
