Mean people suck!
All it takes is one catty remark
to send someone’s self-esteem spiraling into the depths.
The only way to avoid shark bites is to stay out of the water.
The challenge is that we are tasked with being lights in this dark world,
so we can’t stay completely out of the water.
However, there are some things we can do
to protect ourselves from the “sharks” of this world.
We can avoid gossips (if they are willing to talk down about someone else, what makes you think they are not talking the same about you behind your back?).
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.
Like a coating of silver dross on earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart.
Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit.
We can choose our friends wisely.
We should choose people who recognize our flaws
but who will love us in spite of them.
People who encourage our faith in the Lord and who will help us improve.
The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
And the most important protection available to us is
knowing and believing who we are in relation to our Heavenly Father.
When we embrace the fact that our value is determined by our Creator God
and not by the fluctuating opinions of other created beings
we are much happier people. :)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were
written in your book before one of them came to be.
the LORD delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
