The "S" Word

No…not THAT “S” word!
This one:

Yes…I said it!
; )

Why does this simple little six-letter word stir up
such ugly feelings in some of us?

Because someone in our lives misunderstood God’s purpose for it.
Because someone misused the word for their own gain.

But when God uses the word, it’s not for His gain…it’s for ours.

I am discovering more and more that
there is nothing to fear in submitting to God.
His ways are not our ways.
(that statement that keeps popping into my mind as I study
and learn more about Him)
He will not abuse us when we submit to Him.
We will not always understand what He’s doing in us and around us,
but we can trust His heart and the fact that He is good.
He loves us more than anyone else ever could.

Jesus Himself said:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

King David knew what I am discovering too!

“Taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”
Psalm 34:8

The more I get to know His character
(revealed by the Holy Spirit through scripture),
the less I fear that once-dreaded “s” word.
I understand the purpose for it more…and know that those who
slung that word around so carelessly were not speaking for,
nor out of a true knowledge of, my Father God.
One day they will have to answer for their actions.
I am only responsible for mine.

I will submit to Him…because the more that I do…
the lighter my loads become…and the more rest my soul finds.
