I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of the words we speak.
What and how we speak reveals the condition of our hearts.
This morning, though, I am seeing that God is taking this to a deeper level.
Our words are important…but so are our thoughts!
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Proverbs 23:7 (Interlinear Bible)
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully
has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
“We demolish arguments and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought
to make it obedient to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5
The world has been deceived…and has turned away from the Truth of God.
They will tell you that your thoughts are your own…
and nobody else’s business.
That our thoughts are not as bad as actually committing a certain sin.
The Word of God makes it clear that how we think is
just as important as how we behave or speak.
“Who ya gonna trust?”
Those who, more often than not, cannot see past their own self-centeredness?
Or the One who set aside His rights as King of Kings to suffer humiliation
and indescribable pain to redeem your soul from eternal torment?
The choice is yours.
