Why Thanks?
originally written & posted 6 Jan 11

I was reading a book tonight that brought up the commands
for us to be thankful in & for all things…and it got my mind spinning with questions that had to be answered...and they were.

”Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 5:19b-20

How/why can our Creator God expect us to be thankful in/for ALL things?
What about the bad stuff?
What about when our hearts are crushed?
What about when the pain is so heavy we feel we cannot take another breath?
Why would a God who loves us command us to be
thankful even in painful circumstances?

Because He knows us better than we know ourselves.

He knows that we need to focus on the blessings in our lives in order to keep negative attitudes at bay.  He knows that when we embrace negative attitudes, our hearts become hardened.
Hardened hearts cannot love those who need to be loved.
We were created to love and be loved.
Our purpose is to share the love He has given us.
As painful as it can be to have soft hearts,
it’s the only way to keep the love flowing.
